Bio
Formed in 2013 in Lafayette, Louisiana, Forming The Void have not only become one of the city’s most talked about heavy rock bands, they are now widely considered to be a dominant and rising force in the genre.
Praised and recognised across the world by the likes of MetalSucks, PROG, Classic Rock, Metal Injection and CVLT Nation, their drive to succeed has pushed them forward, as they relentlessly march through each new chapter.
Since the release of their self-titled debut in 2014, Forming The Void have gone on to unleash two more albums with Skyward (2015), and the critically acclaimed Relic in 2017. Working in conjunction with established labels such as Argonauta, Black Bow and Lonestar, their next album, Rift, is due for release this summer on one of Europe’s biggest and best-loved underground rock labels, Kozmic Artifactz. Representing a massive step forward for these young visionaries it will be their first album with drummer Thomas Colley, formerly of White Light Cemetery, who has brought with him an exciting new depth to their already colossal and atmospheric sound. A sound that summons the towering hard rock riffs and the progressive influence of bands like Mastodon, Baroness and Torche.
To back up their prolific studio output, Forming The Void are also defined in no small part by their love of touring and while the band themselves may be young, they are already veterans of the scene. Following appearances at SXSW, Stoner Jam and End Hip, End It, they will also be performing at a number of major tastemaker events in 2018, including Psycho Las Vegas, Descendants of Crom and Denver Electric Funeral.

“Progressive sludge metal that’s dynamic, engaging and doesn’t get too swept up in itself is hard to come by, but Louisiana’s Forming The Void have done a fantastic job on their new effort, Relic.”
-MetalSucks
“…a towering, majestic ode to their old Captain Beyond records and Alice In Chains cassettes. It’s a juicy, smoky, doom-rock sandwich laced with crackling neo-grunge and a bucket of slimy green southern-fried sludge.”
-Classic Rock
“Forming the Void stake their claim as the pre-eminent stoner/doom band from the state with their second effort, Relic, a sterling collection of hook-laden riffs and clean vocals…”
-Metal Injection
“Melding their influences, which range from Mastodon and The Sword, to Soundgarden and YOB, Forming The Void’s riffs summon a sense of adventure.”
-CVLT Nation
“Crunching stoner riffs with trippy lyrics that speak of mythical winged beasts, secret epiphanies…”
